I'm on my last refill of a medication - just a couple weeks' worth left. I have been calling my doctor for a month to get another prescription. When I call, the line is either busy or I get the answering machine saying the receptionist has gone home for the day (at 3:00!!!!) and not to leave a message.
So I find it very annoying that I can't reach my doctor!

Cripes...I have a hard time getting appointments, but so far no problem getting scrips from my doc...and that's in navigating the military medical system.

LOL great take on annoying. I always seem to run out on the weekend too so it's double annoyance time having to wait until the doctor's office is open!
I agree that would be annoying. My doctor's office now won't even take refill requests over the phone, you have to call the pharmacy and ask them to fax the request to the doctor. Sometimes though this ends up working faster the times when I experienced what you are right now.
I find doctors annoying - and receptionists are just as bad!! *lol*
I hate to call somewhere and get those automated responses... press 1 for this and 2 for that and 3 for the other. I just want to know what to press to get a real live person!!!

A month!! That's awful -- and annoying!!
Our doctors have a voicemail for their nurse so that we can call and leave the pertinent info. for a refill there. It still may take a day or two for action to take place -- and I thought that was annoying!! I would definitely tell the dr. -- whenever you get through -- that this needs to be handled more efficiently.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I realize how annoying the situation can be esp. since medication is important to maintain your health. I really hope you can reach your doctor soon.

Well considering I left the same doctor for the same receptionist troubles, all I can say is...I feel your pain and frankly, I don't think your posting even goes anywhere near to describe how really cooky it can be in that office. Sorry to hear that things haven't improved over there.

That really stinks that you can't get a hold of your doctor. Can't you just have the pharmacy call your doctor's office?
I think taking a picture of "annoying" is difficult. But you captured it. So totally annoying!

Indeed that's very annoying. And that's there is nobody to respond is not right too. It already happened to me, but then I get the pills at the pharmacy because they know me and I bring the prescription afterwards.
Oh yes, reaching doctors is always annoying!

Congrats on being "site of the day." OH...I'd say this is BEYOND annoying! Not to be able to reach a doc for a refill? And "don't leave a message?" They're really dedicated to helping people, aren't they? That's unforgivable! Sure hope you make contact soon.

Sounds to me either your doctor has gotten too big for his britches or too big for his practice. Either way, I think I'd be hunting for a new doctor. (Now there's ANOTHER annoying thing!)

Agreed. And where I live it would be especially annoying because you can't switch doctors if you're not happy with them, because there is none to be found! Many who want to get family doctors cannot and have to resort to the walk in clinics or emergency at hospitals. It's craziness!!!

Do we share the same doctor? Mine has the same answering machine - says the're not there and it cannot record messages. Then, they close down for lunch each day and at noon on Thursdays.

At least my doctor's office has a menu of 17 different options so you can ANNOY the hell out of them by leaving different messages. Good luck getting your Rx!

I have seen this happen when a secretary shuts off the phone to do work.
The dr has no idea the patients can't get through.
Or the secretary is sick and the Dr. is too cheap to pay a temp.

I can appreciate that frustration. I've just been searching for a doctor for 3 years and when I finally found a place that seemed good and taking patients it turns out to be another pain in the arse. But would I leave? Heck no, where am I going to find someone else? So exploited we are.
My goodness...that is terrible!! I do not have that problem but that would be horribly annoying!! I thought at first you were going to say it was annoying to have to TAKE it!!

Now that really sucks. It seems that you have the same problems I do here. Workers leaving early. I had to cash my check in about a week ago. The bank hours are from 8:00-am to 5:00-pm. Well for some reason they felt the need to close fifteen minutes earlier because there weren't any customers coming in. This happened on a friday no less.
That would be really annoying. I don't suppose leaving a message would be the least bit helpful, would it?
